TAREK EL-ANSARY - Principal Structural Engineer

Tarek gained a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Wollongong in 1988 and later attained a Master of Engineering Science from the University of New South Wales in 1995.

Tarek founded the practice in 1999 after having served a decade in both public and private sector organisations. During this time, Tarek played significant roles in major public sector projects including a range of defence and landmark institutional Canberra buildings.

Tarek served a period of time in project management roles where he delivered projects from ‘the other side’, leading the work of consultant teams and cultivating his management proficiency.

Tarek’s diverse background coupled with his specialist expertise in structural engineering make him a pre-eminent and highly-skilled resource on any project.

KATE McDONALD - Client Services Manager

Kate holds a Diploma of Communication and Media specialising in Public Relations and joined the practice in 2007 following a role with The Cancer Council ACT and a stint in retail.

Kate’s extensive knowledge of client services, administrative processes and her meticulous organisational skills play a vital role in the delivery of the practices’ day to day operations.

Kate thrives on communication and engaging with clients to ensure their needs are being met by the professional stream of the practice.

Kate’s astute sense for enjoining effective information flow helps ease the burden during the project and task cycle.

Inspired by the mix of scientific rigour and artistry of engineering, Kate decided to become an Engineer and is presently studying towards that goal.

JEAN GU - Assistant Engineer

Jean holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Canberra and joined the practice in 2009.

Jean’s primary inspiration for becoming a landscape architect was driven by an underlying love of building structures and the architecture and engineering disciplines which shape them.

Jean’s expertise in external urban design brings considerable broadness to the practice. In particular her background serves to strengthen the link between civil engineering and landscape architecture in so far as the structure, land interface.

Jean is a documentation specialist and works assiduously to ensure the message of every design is properly communicated.
